SA Health and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs work together to provide a full range of hospital services to veteran patients according to their entitlements. We also promote awareness your special needs within the public hospital system.
Veterans Health Care
The SA Health Framework for Veterans Health Care 2012-16 outlines the issues that currently exist in health care provision for the veteran community and makes recommendations for action over the next four years to address these issues.
The Repatriation General Hospital
The Repatriation General Hospital (RGH) is a dedicated health service within our public health system. The hospital has 300 beds dedicated to providing you with the highest standards of quality care. These standards have earned the hospital accreditation by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.
Located approximately eight kilometres south of Adelaide’s General Post Office, the hospital is on 14-hectare site. Parking is free, easy and close to our treatment and clinics. The hospitals spacious site allows for relaxing and well-kept gardens, which are visible from most ward areas.
Our superb medical, nursing, allied health staff and diversity of specialties, enables us to offer high quality integrated care from the acute stages of care, through to rehabilitation and palliative care. Rehabilitation, mental health care and palliative care are being increasingly recognised as the flagships of our hospital.
The RGH is one of our state’s teaching hospitals and is affiliated with a number of research facilities.
