What's new at Noarlunga

A quick reference flip chart has been delivered to more than 60 000 homes in the Onkaparinga Council area to help people find the right health service for their injury or illness.

The chart was developed in response to research that showed many people attending Noarlunga Hospital Emergency Department after-hours did not consider alternate options. The flip chart can help people decide where to go for medical help and if a hospital visit is necessary. Read more about the new initiative on page 15 of the August edition of Southern Health News.

Emergency Department

The Emergency Department (ED) provides emergency services to the southern area, treating approximately 50,000 people a year.

The ED offers a caring service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

24 hour x-ray and pathology facilities are available on site.

Our ED team consists of medical officers, registered and enrolled nurses, clerical staff and client support staff. Access to Noarlunga Emergency Mental Health is also available in the ED.

When you arrive at the emergency department you will be seen by the duty nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury. All patients are triaged as per the Australasian triage scoring process.

More seriously ill patients are transferred to the nearest major hospital, Flinders Medical Centre at Bedford Park.
