Immunisation provider information

The immunisation schedule and supporting programs can be complex and constantly changing. Health professionals can access the following information to assist in the promotion and best practice delivery of immunisation services.

Important National Immunisation Program Schedule change:

From 1 July 2017 the National Immunisation Program will commence a 2 dose Rotarix® vaccine schedule replacing the 3 dose RotaTeq® vaccine schedule. All children commencing a vaccine schedule from 1 July 2017 are to be offered Rotarix® vaccine.

Further information is available at Immunise Australia and the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) clinical advice to support the introduction of Rotarix® in place of replace RotaTeq® in specified Australian states (Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Queensland) from 1 July 2017.

Commonwealth and state funded immunisation programs include:

All individuals aged 10 to 19 years, and refugees and humanitarian entrants aged over 20 years of age are eligible for funded vaccines under the expansion of the National Immunisation Program.

Catch up schedules and the Immunisation calculator

Catch up schedules are required for individuals who have missed or delayed vaccines. A catch up schedule is planned by health professionals based on age, vaccination history, current recommendations and risk factors.

The Immunisation Calculator has been developed to assist in the calculation of catch-up schedules based on the Australian National Immunistion Program schedule for children up to their 10th birthday.
