Patient identification

SA Health is committed to establishing and maintaining a uniform approach to Patient Identification across the public health care sector.

This approach includes the use of standardised patient identification bands, based on standard specifications (PDF 75KB).

SA Health has developed a Patient Identification Policy (PDF 176KB) and a Patient Identification Guideline (PDF 161KB). Release of this Policy will be followed by the release of a toolkit which will include safety check lists, audit tools, monitoring systems and information for both patients and staff.

The Surgical Taskforce has developed a Surgical Team Safety Checklist and the Medical Imaging Advisory Committee (MIAC) is developing a safety checklists for use in interventional radiology settings.
