Charter of Healthcare Rights

SA Health is committed to the ensuring rights of patients and consumers as described in the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare publication Charter of Healthcare Rights. These rights are essential to ensure that, wherever and whenever care is provided; it is of high quality and is safe.

The Charter allows patients, consumers, families, carers and health care services to share an understanding of the rights of people receiving health care.

Charter of Healthcare Rights Policy Directive

SA Health has developed the Charter of Health and Community Services Rights Policy Directive, to implement legislation as Part 3 of the Health and Community Services Complaints Act 2004 includes a Charter of Health and Community Services Rights (the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner Charter), which substantially incorporates the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights 2008.
