SA Cancer Service structure and governance

The SA Cancer Service (SACS) was established in 2012 with a focus on the co-ordination, planning and development of state-wide cancer services and in late 2013 was restructured to incorporate the strategic advisory role of the former Cancer Clinical Network.

SACS is led by A/ Service Director Tracey Doherty, who Chairs the SACS Executive Group and oversees BreastScreen SA and the SA Clinical Cancer Registry. The SACS Executive Group is supported by Operational, and Strategy Committees, bringing together diverse stakeholders to plan and implement best practice cancer control across South Australia including:

  • clinicians
  • consumers
  • care providers
  • health service managers
  • non-government organisations
  • research institutions
  • university sector.

SACS works collaboratively with Local Health Network Cancer Services and Chief Executive Officers, the Department for Health and Ageing, the Cancer Council of SA, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and other public, private and non-government organisations to optimise cancer care in SA.
